Why You Playin' - Using Play to Empower and Build Self Esteem with Girls

presented by Erica Tatum-Sheade, LCSW

Research supports that play is vital to a child’s development. From this research and more, we also know the value and benefit of play therapy for children struggling in their development. Understanding the importance of the Therapeutic Powers of Play helps all play therapists grow and thrive in their play therapy practice. Being able to connect the value of the Therapeutic Powers of Play to self-esteem and self-confidence assists clinicians in helping their clients thrive in their life. This training will explore play therapy activities specific to self-esteem and self-confidence. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to use play therapy in developing self-esteem and self-confidence in their clients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the therapeutic powers of play
  2. Demonstrate play therapy techniques with young, middle and adolescent girls in both group and individual sessions focused on self esteem
  3. Explain the importance of play in self-esteem/self-confidence building in play therapy clients

Session limited to 40 participants. | 2 APT Contact CE

Please note that CEs are not for anything other than APT hours.
